When are the institutes?
ED 561: Teaching and Learning in Extended Learning Environments is
from July 26-28, 2010
ED 5__: Expanding Learning for ELs: In and Beyond the Classroom is
from July 29-31, 2010
(Both institutes will start at 10:00 AM on their respective first days listed above and end at 2:00 on their respective last day listed above)

Do I have to take both institutes?
No, it is up to you whether to take both or just one.

Where is the Institute?
Arcadia University Campus, Glenside, PA

Can I get graduate credits for the institute(s)?
Yes. And, if you are interested, ED 561: Teaching and Learning in Extended Learning Environments is the first course of Arcadia’s Online Graduate Certificate in Extended Learning.

Can I enroll in the institute(s) without doing the full certificate program?
Yes. You are not required to take additional courses beyond the institute. 

Can I get undergraduate credits for the institute(s)?
Yes. We are offering an undergraduate track for both institute(s).

Can I transfer credit from the institute(s) to another university?
In most cases, yes. Check the transfer of credit policy at your university.  

Where can I stay during the Institute?
You have two options: You can stay on-campus in a suite for $50 a night or you may stay at the Hilton Garden Inn http://www.hiltongardeninn.com (reduced rates available, mention Arcadia). Please Note: if you choose the hotel, you will need to make your own transportation arrangements to the university campus.

What is the closest airport?
Philadelphia International Airport

Is there public transportation available?
Take the SEPTA R5 or R2 lines to Glenside Station. Use SEPTA #22 bus or taxicab or walk south along Easton Road to Arcadia University (about .9 miles).

I live within driving distance. Will I need a parking permit for the Arcadia campus?
No. Since the program takes place in the summer, no parking permit is necessary.

What are the “online follow ups”?
The four online follow-ups for each respective institute provide you support as you apply content from the institute(s) to your own practice. You will be responsible for (1) describing one specific way you will put your learning into action, (2) providing feedback to colleagues on their proposals, and (3) sharing your experiences implementing your plan.  You are also responsible for (4) submitting an observation report of one OST program (one where you do not work).

August 17: Project Proposal Due
